May was spent unpacking and moving into our new house. We also had our first houseguest which was my friend Katy visiting from OK. It good to have a visitor so soon because it helped motivate me to get unpacked faster. I also got our guest room and guest bath (see below) setup sooner than I would have.

While she was here, I took her to the Vulcan where Dustin & I got engaged. Katy was the first person I have brought there that freaked out and wouldn't get off the elevator onto the platform at the base of the Vulcan. All of our other visitors (Page, Reagan, Kyle, Stella, Josie, Frank) have braved it but Katy couldn't do it :) In her defense it is very scary.

I also took her to the Irondale Cafe which is the real life "Whistle Stop Cafe" from the book and movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". They really do have the best fried green tomatoes. I can't believe Dustin who is AL born & bred hasn't been there before.
We also went to Sips n Strokes which is a one night painting class where you can bring your own beverages. We went to Whole Foods before hand and got some olives, cheese, and wine. Katy's painting is the one on the right and mine is the one on the left.

On May 18th, a year and a month since we got married we realized we still hadn't had our wedding cake topper yet. So we ate it that night. It was actually really good especially considering it had been transported from Houston to Alabama in a cooler. I got pictures of the cake but neglected to get any pictures of us with the cake :(
